Martingale in Esports Betting: Is It Crashing and Burning for Anyone Else?

Hey all, I’ve been deep into the Martingale strategy for esports betting lately, and I’m starting to sweat. For those who don’t know, it’s that classic double-your-bet-after-a-loss system—works like a charm in theory, right? You just keep going until you win and wipe out the losses. I got hooked on it watching CS:GO majors and Valorant tournies, figuring the fast pace and odds shifts were perfect for it. Started small, like $10 bets on underdog teams, thinking I’d ride the streak back to profit.
At first, it was smooth. Caught a few upsets, doubled up after a loss or two, and felt like a genius. But then came this last ESL Pro League run—total disaster. I was betting on map winners, and the favorites kept choking. Lost five in a row, and my bets ballooned from $10 to $160 in no time. Bankroll’s screaming, and I’m staring at the screen wondering if I’m cursed or just dumb. The odds in esports feel so erratic sometimes—way less predictable than I expected. One bad read on a team’s form, and you’re cooked.
Anyone else riding this rollercoaster? I keep hearing Martingale’s a trap when variance hits hard, but I’m stubborn. Pulled it off before in smaller doses, so I’m torn. Is it the strategy crashing, or is esports just too wild for it? I’m not out yet, but my nerves are fried. Curious if others are hitting the same wall or if I’m missing some tweak to make it work. Thoughts?
