Just wanted to drop a quick thanks for all the insights in this thread. It's been a goldmine for tweaking my approach. I’ve been grinding poker tournaments for a while now, and one thing I’ve been focusing on lately is sizing my bets to control the pot and keep my stack in check—kinda like forecasting how the table’s gonna play out.
What’s been working for me is adjusting my bet sizes based on stack depths and position. Early on, I keep bets smaller to avoid bloating the pot when I’m speculative. Mid-tournament, I ramp up aggression with bigger bets if I’ve got a decent stack, especially in late position, to push folks off marginal hands. Late stages, it’s all about survival, so I’m super selective—only betting big when I’m confident I can force a fold or I’m holding premium cards. It’s not perfect, but it’s helped me stay alive longer and hit some deeper runs.
Curious what you all think about balancing bet sizes like this to "predict" how the table reacts. Anyone got tricks for reading the flow of the tournament to adjust on the fly? Thanks again for the ideas here—definitely sparking some new thoughts.
